The Moderne Hotel Goes Green

The Moderne hotel in New York City will be converting to be the first Green and non-smoking hotel in the world.
New York, NY 30 April 2007 – The 34 room Moderne Hotel in New York City will be converted to be a full fledge Green and non-smoking hotel.  According to Amsterdam Hospitality, Real estate developers Jay and Stuart Podolsky have decided to turn their little boutique hotel on West 55 th street in New York to an environmentally friendly building as well as promoting a healthy smoke free environment.
According to Jay Podolsky, The Moderne will use the guidelines recommended by the Green Hotels Association, that will include but not limited to No-Smoking in entire hotel, energy efficient lighting, bulk dispensers for shampoos and soaps, recycled biodegradable paper products, 100% bamboo unbleached linen.
In addition to the Green conversion, the Podolsky's also decided to begin offering a healthy continental breakfast. “Converting The Moderne into a Green, non-smoking hotel is not enough, we wanted to add an additional touch to it and begin serving a 100% health conscious breakfast that will include wheat grass, fresh juices, organic and soy products, buck wheat pancakes, basically a non-fat high fiber breakfast” stated Stuart Podolsky.

According to Amsterdam Hospitality the conversion of The Moderne will begin on June 1, and is expected to be completed by the fall of 2007.
